Tragic news.

Popular YouTube blogger Desmond Amorah, who went by the online name Etika, has been found dead in New York City, according to the NYPD.

Amorah had been missing since 20 June, and police had been searching for him.

The New York Police Department has since issued an update on the investigation, confirming that Amorah had been found dead. In a tweet posted on Tuesday evening, the department wrote: “We regret to inform that Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found deceased.”

In recent days, Amorah had deleted his own channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, before posting a video titled “I’m Sorry,” which led many to become concerned for his well-being. The video showed him walking the streets of New York.

Amorah, who was 29, had amassed fame like many other video bloggers – by publishing live-streams of himself playing video games on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

Tributes have begun to pour in from the online video gaming and YouTubing community.
