Very sad news.

Tragic news.

The body of 20-year-old Eimear Noonan, an Irish woman who had been reported missing in the southeast of France, has been found in a public park.

An official at the prefecture of the Ardèche department told The Irish Times that they believe Eimear Noonan’s death was an accident, stating:

“She slipped and fell next to a little stream. There wasn’t much water but she appears to have drowned because she was unconscious.”

Eimear Noonan, who hails from Caher, Killanena in Clare, was last seen on Wednesday in the town on Annonay, approximately 75km south of Lyon, where she was working as a teaching assistant in a primary school.

Eimear’s family had arrived in France this Friday and Saturday to help local officials with the search for Eimear, as her brother Michael had previously stated that she had a half day on Wednesday and was last seen shopping in Annonay on Wednesday afternoon, and had made no contact with friends and there has been no activity on her social media accounts since.

An autopsy is to be carried out early next week.
