Brexit supporter asked if the Good Friday Agreement is worth sacrificing, reveals a big lie

Paul Moore

Brexit

Well, that backfired.

In terms of the most recent discussion on the border and Brexit, there’s an active push from Irish people to inform our British neighbours that the border is not just an issue that concerns goods, trade and checks.

It’s about people and the very real threat of violence that looms large if a hard border is reintroduced.

This very idea formed the core of Leo Varadkar’s most recent speech in Brussels, when he told EU leaders that no-one in Ireland, or in the Irish Government, was in any way “exaggerating the real risk” of violence.

The PSNI have also warned about the potential of border terrorism increasing in the post-Brexit climate.

On this note, Question Time on the BBC were discussing the idea of the Irish backstop and the border issue during their most recent show.

One of the audience members had the opportunity to state her views and as you can see below, this lady worked for the Leave campaign in their financial department.

After stating that the Leave campaign were “very clear about what leaving meant and people voted for that,” another audience member cuts across her and says “you lied”.

At this point, she starts to get slightly angry and replies by saying: “Yeah, because the Remain campaign really told the truth.”

In an effort to redirect the conversation, Keir Starmer, Shadow Secretary of State for Brexit, asked the lady: “If there’s no alternative to protect the peace process in Northern Ireland, are you really saying that you would give that up as a prize for Brexit?”

She responded by saying: “I’m saying that people voted to leave completely. Staying in a customs union is not what people voted for. We were very clear about going and going completely.”

What unfolds in the second clip below, however, is a lovely bit of schadenfreude.

After stating that she worked for the finance department of the Leave campaign, she said: “I would point out that the Remain campaign lied also. A lot.”

Lied also. Also?!

Plenty of people were quick to point out this revelation.
