A British woman has been killed in a gas explosion at a bar in a holiday hotspot in Spain.
The incident happened in Casa Javi bar in San Pedro del Pinatar in Murcia killing a 56-year-old British woman.
The woman was believed to be walking to a local market when she was caught in the blast that killed one other woman and injured another 17 people.
The explosion happened last Thursday (19 June) although news of the incident has only begun circulating a week later.
Her death was confirmed by the local council on social media.
One other woman died, the bar owner, a Moroccan woman so far only named as Hind, who was said to have suffered severe burns, as per El Español.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after midday following reports of a strong explosion.
Photos from the scene showed parts of a blown out window and other debris spread across the outside road.
A nearby shop owner said: "My entire business shook, the windows and everything."
No official cause has been released, however, an inspection by the Judicial Police found the gas cylinder’s seal had been ‘sabotaged’, according to reports.
The local council wrote on X: "From the San Pedro del Pinatar local council we want to express our most sincere condolences over the deaths of two people who were seriously injured in an explosion in Lo Pagan on June 19."
