How would you like to drive a bumper car down an iconic Dublin street?

We’ve heard of Dublin traffic being bumper to bumper but this is new!

There are all sorts of ways to do your morning commute in Dublin – even more so when the buses aren’t on strike. You can hop in a taxi, cycle, drive, walk or even take one of those Solowheel things if you’re unconcerned about public opinion or your personal safety.

Or you could take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to nip down the canal in a bumper car. Yes, you read that right. The stretch of the canal between Leeson Street and Baggot Street is about to be turned into a giant bumping car track for the day, thanks to the good people at mytaxi.

Hailo will be known as mytaxi from now on and they wanted to celebrate the change of name by bringing a bit of joy to commuters’ lives.

So they’re going to be giving Dublin commuters lifts up and down the south bank of the canal for one day only on Wednesday, 5 April. They’ll be running from 7-11am, 12:30-2pm and 3:30-7:30pm. If nothing else, it’s certainly a novel way to beat the traffic.

We’re hoping that this is just the start of introducing more fairground games into our daily working life.

Imagine qualifying for your annual bonus by knocking over three cans with a beanbag. Picking up lunch would be so much more interesting if you had net three baskets to get your sandwich.

Hailo has now changed to mytaxi but you can still get the same great service and more from the new mytaxi app. Making the move from Hailo to mytaxi is quick and easy, and you’ll be ready to hail in no time!

For more information on switching over or setting up the app for the first time, check out their website
