The country is moving again

Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are back in action after two days of strikes across the country.

Businesses say their trade was significantly disrupted by the stoppages on Friday and Saturday, with more than one million bus journeys lost.

Another 48-hour strike by Siptu and NBRU workers is expected to take place on May 15th and May 16th, with a three-day stoppage in the pipeline between May 29th and May 31st.

Footfall on the streets of Dublin and Cork were down up to 22% on Friday and Saturday, according to the Irish Times, and there are currently no new talks planned at bringing an end to the dispute, which centres around plans to privatise 10% of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann services.
