Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue has tested positive for Covid-19, his spokesperson has confirmed.

A statement from the government press office on Wednesday (23 December) read: “A member of Cabinet has tested positive for Covid-19. In line with public health advice, all Ministers are restricting their movements while awaiting a Covid test and result.” Following a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee on Covid-19 on Monday evening, Cabinet met on Tuesday to discuss the response to the escalation in cases of Covid-19 in Ireland, which led to an announcement about the return of Level 5 restrictions from Christmas Eve.
