Café in Waterford given approval to sell cannabis

High times.

Blooms Cafe on John Street in Waterford made headlines recently after the newly-opened joint actively promoted the relaxing properties of cannabis while staying well within the legal limits of its usage in Ireland.

The establishment sells real buds of marijuana to customers, which are not allowed to be smoked on the premises, but can be smoked at home.

The cannabis sold in the café does contains high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) for relaxation and stress relief, but it remains below the legally required THC content of 0.2%, thus making it legal under EU regulations in Ireland.

A few weeks ago, Gardaí took various samples of CBD flowers for testing and after conducting some research, they’re now happy for the premises to remain open.

In a post to their Facebook page, Blooms Cafe stated that after a five-week hiatus, they’re reopening and that their “best selling hemp variety Strawberry Cough is now available to purchase”.

“After a long and painful 5 weeks that almost resulted in permanent closure of our lovely little cafe – more on this later – we are elated to be able to back our beautiful CBD hemp flowers/buds. Our best selling hemp variety Strawberry Cough is now available to purchase on our website. We expect this to sell out fast so be sure to get yours before it’s gone!” the cafe posted.

In a previous post, the café that Gardaí recently took “all of our CBD flowers were taken from our store for testing. We are currently awaiting the test results… However, we do not see this as bad news”.

The café reopens on Saturday morning, 1 December, at 8am.
