All the best to all students receiving CAO offers today.

Over 52,000 students throughout Ireland will today receive offers of places in third-level courses from the Central Applications Office (CAO).

Although a new system was introduced this year, based on the points required for particular courses in the past, students will have had a fair idea of whether they achieved the points required for their desired course when they received their Leaving Certificate results last week, with official offers being issued by the CAO on Monday.

The list of points required at third level institutions throughout the country became available from 6am this morning and can be viewed in full here.

Half of all courses have seen their required points drop in 2017, including traditionally popular courses such as general engineering, nursing and primary school teaching, although there has been an increase in the points required for commerce courses at UCD, NUIG and Trinity College.

The deadline for acceptance of Round One offers is next Monday (28 August) at 5.15pm, with Round Two offers set to be issued on Thursday, 31 August at 6am.
