Teenage boy seriously injured following collision between truck and car in Cork

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardaí have attended the scene of a major road traffic collision that took place at Dunkereen Cross, Inishannon in County Cork on Tuesday afternoon, 23 April.

The incident involving a truck and a car occurred at approximately 1.55pm.

The male driver of the truck, aged in his 50s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Cork University Hospital along with the three occupants of the car involved.

A teenage boy travelling in the car, reportedly 16 years of age, was seriously injured in the collision and is believed to be in critical, but stable, condition.

The remaining two occupants of the car; a female driver in her 40s and another male in his teens, received non life-threatening injuries.

As of Tuesday evening, the road at the scene in Dunkereen Cross remains closed in order to facilitate an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Diversions have been put in place.
