One person confirmed dead as car crashes into two bus stops in Marseille

The driver of the car was subsequently arrested by police in Marseille.

One person has been confirmed dead after a car was driven into two bus stops in the French city of Marseille on Monday morning.

According to the BBC, it is not being treated as a terrorist incident and the driver, who is known to police, has been arrested.

Police in France have advised people to avoid the area in the aftermath of the incident.
