Gardaí in Clifden are investigating the incident.
A caravan was blown off a cliff near Clifden in Galway on Wednesday morning as strong winds from Storm Ali ravaged the country, particularly the west of Ireland.
It is believed that a female in her 50s was in the caravan at the time. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, President Michael D Higgins expressed his “deepest condolences” to the family of the victim.
