Caravan with woman inside blown off a cliff in Galway

Gardaí in Clifden are investigating the incident.

A caravan was blown off a cliff near Clifden in Galway on Wednesday morning as strong winds from Storm Ali ravaged the country, particularly the west of Ireland.

It is believed that a female in her 50s was in the caravan at the time. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí in Clifden are investigating the incident, which occurred at Claddaghduff, Co Galway on Wednesday morning.

In a statement, President Michael D Higgins expressed his “deepest condolences” to the family of the victim.
