Irish Rail delays

As Sunday draws to a close, people across the Ireland are preparing for the effects of Hurricane Ophelia.

Many schools and universities have announced that they will close tomorrow, and some airlines and bus services have been suspended throughout the country.

Iarnród Éireann has also announced changes to their routes. While most routes are expected to operate as normal, trains from Limerick Junction to Waterford won’t be running. Similarly, trains from Limerick to Ballybrophy via Nenagh won’t be running.

Speed restrictions will also slow down services in the following Red level threat zones:

  • Tralee to Mallow
  • Cork to Charleville
  • Cork to Cobh/Midleton
  • Waterford to Kilkenny
  • Rosslare Europort to Gorey

Between these stations, trains will be travelling at 80 kilometres per hour, resulting in delays of between 15-30 minutes on four routes.

  • Cork to Dublin
  • Tralee to Cork/Dublin
  • Waterford to Dublin
  • Rosslare Europort to Dublin

Updates will be posted to this page on the Iarnród Éireann website.
