The former RTÉ broadcaster has thanked the public for their support.
Charlie Bird has revealed that he has been sent hundreds of cards and letters from the public after sharing his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis earlier this year.
The former RTÉ broadcaster said he has been “humbled” by the huge amount of cards and letters arriving at his home in Wicklow.
Bird said he plans to do his best to reply to as many people as he can.
He has also thanked the “tens of thousands” who sent him messages over the past couple of weeks.

“I am humbled by the amount of cards and letters that are coming to my house,” he wrote on Twitter.
“There have been hundreds of them. I am trying to write to as many people as possible but it could take weeks.
“And to the tens of thousands who have sent me messages– thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Charlie touched the hearts of the nation when he spoke candidly about his experience with Motor Neurone Disease on The Late Late Show and opened up about struggling to cope with his diagnosis.
MND is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. Around 140 people are diagnosed with the disease every year in Ireland,
Since sharing his story, Bird has vowed to climb Croagh Patrick along with cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan, who he has formed a new friendship with in recent weeks.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, he also congratulated Vicky, who is set to be awarded the Freedom of Limerick for her work in uncovering the Cervical Check scandal and her advocacy for women’s health.
“So happy to see Vicky Phelan is being awarded the freedom of Limerick….” he wrote.
“She deserves the Freedom of Ireland for what she has been put through. So honoured that I met her recently.
“Vicky, you are my new BFF. Stay strong and hopefully we will climb Croagh Patrick together.”
