There is still confusion surrounding how many people will be allowed in these indoor settings.

Cinemas, galleries and theatres will be allowed to remain open, though there is doubt surrounding the amount of people that can attend “indoor concerts”.

The Department of Art confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that cinemas, galleries and theatres can continue to operate with 50 people indoors and 200 outdoors, as long as the appropriate measures, including physical distancing, are in place.

However, since then, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that only six people can attend this type of event.

He said: “If it’s an indoor concert the answer is no more than six people”, seemingly directly contradicting what the Department of Art said.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the government body said: “These venues can continue to operate under existing limits where appropriate physical distancing can continue to be maintained. Individual groupings attending these venues must be limited to six people from no more than three households.

“Similarly outdoor arts events which take place in venues which allow for a controlled environment where social distancing can be ensured can also proceed on the basis of existing limits.”

The announcement from the government on Tuesday confirmed that spectators would not be allowed sporting events until 13 September at the earliest.
