CNN’s new ad has thrown some serious shade at Donald Trump

In response to numerous attacks...

CNN has gone back to the roots of news with their new campaign, called “Facts First”.

CNN launched a new campaign on Monday morning featuring an apple and a voiceover, and nothing else.

The voiceover proposes a situation where someone tries to convince you that the apple you can clearly see in front of you is not an apple, but actually a banana.

“This is an apple,” a narrator says. “Some people might try to tell you that it’s a banana. They might scream ‘Banana. Banana. Banana.’ over and over and over again. They might put ‘banana’ in all caps. You might even start to believe that this is a banana. But it’s not,” reasons the voice. “This is an apple.”

The ad is likely a backlash to Donald Trump’s constant attacks on them and other news networks throughout his presidency and campaign, calling them ‘fake news’ and claiming they make up stories about him.

Other organizations have also used ad campaigns to hit back at Trump in the past few weeks with The New York Times, for example, running ads with mottos including “the truth is alternative facts are lies” and “the truth is our nation is more divided than ever”.
