Comedian Sean Hughes has died, aged 51
Very sad news.
Actor and comedian Sean Hughes, who was born in England but spent most of his formative years in Ireland, has died at the age of 51.
Hughes’ management company confirmed the sad news on Monday; Hughes is believed to have spent time in hospital recently and his last tweet, posted on October 8, simply read: “In Hospital.”

Hughes was the youngest ever comedian to win the prestigious Perrier award back in 1990 and was famous for his role as a team captain on the BBC comedy quiz show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Hughes also appeared in TV shows such as The Last Detective and Coronation Street, had a minor role in The Commitments and starred in a film adaptation of the book, Round Ireland with a Fridge.
He will be sorely missed.
