48% of people fail their tests each year in Ireland…
Passing the driving test proves very difficult for some people and the current pass rate for Irish people each year stands at a stubborn 52%.
There are many factors that can impact on test outcomes such as the level of preparation done by test candidates, nervousness on the day, whether tuition has been taken, age and the quality of such tuition.
Some of the main reasons for failing your driving test, according to the Road Safety Authority are:
- Poor observation such as hazards
- Poor positioning on the roads, which includes position to centre line
- Not complying with road signs
- Poor progress at junctions
In other news, in case you were interested, the RSA also have figures on the test centres which are statistically the easiest and the most difficult test centres to take your driving test.
Although the RSA are keen to stress that a high level of priority is given to ensuring that there is uniformity of standards at all driving test centres, to ensure that regardless of variations in location, test routes, or weather conditions, the test experience is similar for each candidate irrespective of where it is conducted or who carries it out.
