CONFIRMED: Five Garth Brooks gigs at Croke Park announced for next year

Stephen Porzio

We finally have confirmation.

Garth Brooks has added an extra two dates to his scheduled Dublin gigs at Croke Park, meaning he is locked in to play five nights at the venue next year.

Tickets for the country music star’s hugely anticipated shows at the stadium on 9 and 10 September, 2022 went on sale this Thursday (25 November) at 8am.

However, after hundreds of thousands of people lined up in a virtual queue for tickets for the concerts, within an hour Ticketmaster announced an extra show for 11 September.

Then, just after 10am, it was confirmed: “Due to demand, Garth Brooks has added an extra TWO dates at Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday, 16 and Saturday, 17 September 2022.”

Tickets for the extra two shows are on sale now.

Following the infamous “five or none” debacle in 2014, it had been rumoured for months the country music star would play five nights at Croke Park next year.

However, earlier in the week Brooks played down such a prospect.

Speaking at a press conference at the venue on Monday morning, he said that he did not anticipate the “miracle” of shifting 400,000 tickets in 2014 will happen twice.

“I’d love to do five but I’d also like to be six foot five and have abs,” he joked.

“What happened in 2014 was a fricking miracle – there’s no way we’re going to do that number again. I can’t see us doing five – would I love it to happen? Yes. But I think it’s impossible.”

Well, it seems the impossible just became possible.
