Controlled explosion carried out on suspect device found in Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

A controlled explosion was carried out on a suspect device discovered in Dublin on Thursday morning.

Around 9.20am, Gardaí discovered what they believed to be an improvised explosive device at the entrance to Rafter’s Avenue in Crumlin.

Gardaí secured the scene and local houses were evacuated.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene and conducted a controlled explosion.

The device and its contents are now subject to a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses in relation to the incident to come forward.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Rafter’s Avenue between the hours of 9pm on Wednesday, 9 September and 9am Thursday, 10 September, who may have noticed any unusual activity is asked to come forward.

Similarly, any motorists who were driving in the area between 9pm yesterday evening and 9am this morning, who may have camera (dash-cam) footage are asked to make contact.
