Man in serious condition after being doused in petrol and set on fire during burglary in Cork

A man suffering with burn injuries has been left in serious condition following a burglary incident in Cork. Garda are investigating the aggravated burglary that occurred at a house in Lotamore, Cork shortly before 4am on Monday morning (20 January). Two men entered the house armed with a metal object and assaulted the occupant, a man in his 20s. It is believed the man was also doused in petrol and set on fire during the incident. He was taken to Cork University Hospital after suffering apparent burn injuries, where his condition is believed to be serious. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. An incident room has been set up in Mayfield Garda Station and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 021 455 8510.Most Viewed in news
