The husband and father reportedly died after being stung by wasps while cutting a hedge.

Tributes are pouring in for Cork man Michael (Mick) Sheehan, who died after being reportedly stung by a swarm of wasps.

From Glen Tanar Carriganine in Macroom, Mr. Sheehan’s RIP.ie page states that he passed away on Tuesday, 5 November “unexpectedly at home”.

According to multiple reports, the husband and father died after being stung by wasps while cutting a hedge.

RTÉ’s Morning Ireland states that he was stung on the neck and back and that a short time later, he went into anaphylactic shock.

This is after suffering what is believed to have been an allergic reaction.

His RIP.ie page reads:

“Michael (Mick) beloved husband and best friend of Carmel, loving father of Conor, Katie and Áine and devoted dog walker of Floss and Archie. Dear son of Norma and the late Raymond (Ray), brother of Margaret. Deeply regretted by his extended family, many friends and kind neighbours.

“Reposing in Fitz-Geralds Funeral Home Macroom (P12KX79) on Thursday 7th November from 6pm to 8pm with prayers.

“Requiem Mass on Friday 8th November at 1.30 pm in St. Colman’s Church, Macroom (P12VP20)… followed by private cremation at 4pm in The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy (P43DD71).”

Many have taken to the condolences section of the RIP.ie page to pay tribute to Mr. Sheehan.

One person said: “Michael was a fine, kind, intelligent and forthright man – a strong, steady and uplifting presence in every sphere of his life. He is gone too soon and is an enormous loss.”

A second person wrote: “So sad to hear of Mick’s untimely passing. He was a thorough gentleman, heartwarming and a consummate professional expert with a great sense of humour. I hadn’t spoken to him for a few months but I always enjoyed long chats when we ran into each other.

“Great company. A life to be celebrated, valued and remembered. Tragically cut short. Deepest condolences to all his family and friends.”

Another left the message: “To Conor, Katie, Áine and Carmel, my heartfelt condolences to you all at this difficult time. I will cherish the memories of the chats on the 6th green with Mick and the great advice he gave me over the years. Thinking of you all.”

“I was deeply saddened to hear of Mike’s sudden passing. He was a wonderful person who left a positive impact on everyone he worked with,” a fourth person said.
