The increases are set to come into effect from July 2nd.

The price of Diageo drinks look set to rise after the company contacted publicans, wholesalers and retailers with regards to changing the prices of their beers.

The increase in price is expected to be seen on Diageo drinks like Guinness, Smithwicks, Hop House, Carlsberg and Budweiser.

The increase will impact drinks that are bought in pubs and any purchases that are made in the off licence.

The price of draught beer in a pub is expected to increase by 4 cent per pint, excluding VAT.  A similar increase for packaged beer that’s sold in retail outlets is also expected. After VAT is included, the increase could come to about 6 cent.

A spokesperson said: “This increase is in line with current inflation trends and it is necessary to ensure we can continue to make significant investments in our business and in the wider hospitality sector.”

Diageo announced a similar increase last year, the first in five years.
