Cost of living protests taking place across Ireland today

Stephen Porzio

Thousands are expected to take to the streets.

A number of protests against the current cost of living crisis are set to take place across Ireland on Saturday (12 November).

Organised by the non-profit organisation the Cost of Living Coalition, demonstrations are happening throughout Dublin, including in Balbriggan, Crumlin, Dún Laoghaire, Finglas, Rathmines and Smithfield.

On top of this, protests will also be taking place in Carlow, Cork, Galway, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Monaghan, Sligo, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

The Cost of Living Coalition has said it is calling for price controls on energy, rent reductions, living wages and proper funding of public services.

“Prices are still shooting up as companies make huge profits. We need to cap prices,” it stated.

Thousands are expected to attend the demonstrations, with full details in regards to the locations and times of the protests available on the Cost of Living Coalition’s Facebook page here.
