98 new cases of Covid-19, four new deaths

The latest figures have been released.

A further four people have died in relation to Covid-19, while 98 new cases of the virus have also been confirmed.

There has now been a total of 1,772 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland, while a total of 26,470 have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.

57 of the newly found cases are in men, while 38 are women.

The Department of Health confirmed that 68% of the new cases are among people under 45 years of age.

67 of the cases are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts, while four cases have been identified as community transmission.

35 of the cases were found in Kildare, 26 in Offaly, six in Wexford, five in Laois, five in Dublin and 21 spread across another 10 counties.
