Six further Covid-19 deaths confirmed, 269 new cases

The latest Covid-19 figures have been released.

Six further Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed, as well as 269 new cases.

The Republic of Ireland’s Covid-related death toll now stands at 2,033, while there has been a total of 71,187 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

88 of Wednesday’s cases are in Dublin, while 42 are in Cork, 25 are in Limerick, 20 are in Louth and 16 are in Donegal.

The remaining 78 cases are spread across 17 other counties.

64% of today’s cases are people under the age of 45, while the median age is 35.

As of this afternoon, there are 260 patients in hospitals across the country with Covid, with 36 of them being in the ICU.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Northern Ireland Department of Health reported that a further 533 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further seven deaths have also been reported up north (three of the deaths reported were outside the 24 hour period).
