Seven new Covid-19 deaths confirmed, 243 new cases

The latest figures have been released by the Department of Health.

Seven new Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed, as well as 243 new cases.

There have now been a total of 2,050 Covid-related deaths in the Republic of Ireland, while the total number of confirmed cases stands at 71,942.

91 of Saturday’s cases are in Dublin, while 26 are in Donegal, 18 are in Cork, 16 are in Waterford and 15 are in Limerick.

The remaining 77 spread are spread across 18 counties.

The median age of today’s cases is 32 years old, while 71% of today’s cases are people under 45 years of age.

As of 2pm today, 254 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised across the country, of which 31 are in ICU.

There have been 20 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Earlier on Saturday, the Northern Ireland Department of Health reported that a further 315 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further nine deaths have also been reported up north (though one death was outside the 24 hour period).
