47 additional Covid deaths confirmed, 901 new cases

The latest figures have been released.

47 additional Covid deaths have been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland, as well as 901 new cases.

44 of these deaths occurred in February, two occurred in January and one was in December.

The median age of those who died was 81 years and the age range was between 51-99 years.

There has now been a total of 4,082 Covid-related deaths across the country, while 212,647 people have tested positive for the virus.

437 of today’s cases are in Dublin, 49 are in Limerick, 43 are in Galway, 39 in Kildare and 32 are in Meath. The rest are spread across all other counties.

As of 8am today, 771 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 151 are in ICU. 48 additional hospitalisations have occurred in the past 24 hours.

The latest vaccination figures show that 182,193 people have received their first dose, while 98,388 people have received their second dose.

Earlier in the day, the Department of Health in Northern Ireland reported that a further 342 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further six deaths have also been reported up north.
