Video: Footage of the Galway RAG week carnage in Supermacs has inevitably arrived

This being the age of the Smartphone, once photos of the carnage in Supermacs in Galway appeared last night, video evidence was bound to follow. Here it is.

We already brought you photos of the absolute mayhem in the Eyre Square Supermacs last night and video footage of some casual flare-lighting outside it that made Galway seem less like a medium sized west of Ireland town on an average Wednesday night and more like the scene of a continental soccer riot.

While that was going on outside, however, there was even more mayhem going on within as what seems like hundreds of pissed-up students whipped off their shirts, jumped up on tables and sang Olé, Olé at the top of their voices.

With the Euros only a few months away, we’d like to think it was a spontaneous act of patriotism, but a more likely scenario is that is an anthem sung by crowds of Irish people at any event whatsoever and the lyrics aren’t exactly hard to master, even with a bellyful of fat frogs and half a smokey-bacon burger sticking out of your mouth.

We feel a little bit sorry for the Supermacs staff present, but in fairness to the cheering masses present, there didn’t seem to be any serious trouble going on.

So much for ‘cancelling’ RAG week eh?
