Cyclist dies following collision with car in Cork

The collision occurred at around 7am on Friday morning.

A male cyclist in his 60s has died as a result of a collision with a car in Cork on Friday morning.

Gardaí in Fermoy are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the R639 between Fermoy and Rathcormac at approximately 7am.

A male pedal cyclist (60) was fatally injured when a collision occurred between a car and his bicycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner has been notified and his body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently at the scene and the road is currently closed.
