Woman in her 20s arrested as part of investigation into death of four-year-old boy in Limerick

The arrest is in relation to an incident that took place in March of 2021.

A woman aged in her 20s has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of a four-year-old boy that took place in Limerick earlier this year.

The woman is currently being detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The four-year-old boy suffered fatal injuries at a house in Rathbane in Limerick on Saturday, 13 March.

The boy was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick before being transferred to Cork University Hospital.

He was later transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital following the incident, where he sadly passed away on Tuesday, 16 March.

The new arrest follows two arrests made in August in relation to the investigation.

Gardaí have issued no further information at this time.
