The rail service between Galway to Dublin will be replaced by Bus transfers over the upcoming Easter bank holiday weekend.
This comes as major works are being done at two stations on the route, Galway Ceannt and Oranmore.
From the evening of Friday, April 3 until Monday morning, April 6, all scheduled journeys from Dublin Heuston to Galway will be replaced with bus transfers.
Furthermore, journeys between Limerick to Galway will also be disrupted and will involve bus transfers between Athenry and Galway due to the works.
Ceannt Station in Galway has been undergoing a €24 million redevelopment for the past year.
Changes to the station will include three new platforms bringing the total to five, a new entrance and retail units, a new roof, among other general infrastructure upgrades.
Oranmore Station is also undergoing major construction at the moment which will result in more trains running between Galway and Athenry, including the installation of a one kilometer double track.
Currently, the Athenry to Galway route is a single line with no passing points, but Irish Rail says the upgrade will allow services to double, with trains running every 30 minutes in each direction.
Additionally, a new 185m long platform will be built on the northern side of Oranmore station, linked by a new underpass beneath the tracks that will also include a dedicated cycle route.
The works at Ceannt Station are set to be finished by the middle of this year with Oranmore’s continuing well into the end of 2027.
