It's understood staff were informed on Thursday that its stores would not reopen after the Covid-19 crisis was over and their jobs were gone.
The company blamed trading challenges in Ireland which were exacerbated by the impact of Covid-19.
A liquidator is expected to be appointed to the Irish operation in the coming days.
The UK side of the company will enter into administration as a form of solvency protection.
