Donald Trump claims he can pardon himself if convicted of illegally co-operating with Russia

The latest outlandish claim from President Donald Trump.

US President Donald Trump claims he has the authority to pardon himself if special counsel Robert Mueller finds that he has illegally colluded with Russia to interfere with the democratic process.

He also added that he’s done nothing wrong, of course.

Moreover, Trump claimed that Mueller’s investigation was unconstitutional.

He subsequently tweeted:

Trump’s lead attorney Rudy Giuliani had said at the weekend that the former host of The Apprentice did indeed have the power to pardon himself in the case of criminal proceedings being proven, but that Trump had no intention of doing so.

Presumably because he’s done nothing wrong.

Trump’s most recent actions are leading people to believe that he will pardon anyone convicted as a result of Mueller’s investigation.

Last week,Trump pardoned conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza and floated the idea of doing likewise for TV personality Martha Stewart and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, all of whom were convicted on the grounds of campaign finance violations, obstruction of justice, and corruption.
