He has cancelled the trip he was scheduled to make later this month.

Presumptive Republican nominee for the US Presidency, Donald Trump, has cancelled a scheduled trip to Ireland later this month.

Trump was due to visit his resort in Doonbeg in Clare sometime between June 22 and June 25, but reports suggest he has cancelled the Irish leg of his trip and will only visit Scotland instead.

Stephanie Grisham, Press Tour Director for the Trump campaign, confirmed to Irish Central that the trip would be to Scotland only but did not discuss a reason for the change.

Trump’s updated travel schedule suggests he will leave New York for Scotland on June 23 instead of June 22 as had originally been planned and he will return to the US on Saturday, June 25.

Grisham replied “Just Scotland” when asked by Irish Central whether a trip to Ireland was still a part of Trump’s itinerary and would not discuss the reasons behind the change of schedule.

Protests against Trump’s visit to Ireland had been planned for O’Connell Street in Dublin, Ennis and possibly even Shannon Airport (where Trump would have arrived) during his visit.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, meanwhile, had been criticised for stating that he would be happy to meet Trump despite recently branding his anti-immigration comments as “racist and dangerous”.
