Donegal man horrifically injured in christmas party sword attack

It is understood the man was attacked in Buncrana, Co.Donegal on 27 December following a Christmas night out. As the photo below shows, the left hand side of the man’s face was sliced wide open. He is also thought to have sustained further head, face and back injuries.

The man is believed to be in his early twenties.

Gardai investigating the incident have confirmed that they responded to a serious assault in the Earlsfort area of Cockhill, at around 2.20 a.m.

Reports circulating locally and reported in the DerryJournal suggest that a sword was used in the incident.

The victim of the attack was taken to LetterKenny hospital for treatment following the assault but has since been released.

It is understood that no arrests have been made in relation to the attack. Gardaí are currently working with the victim and are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Earlsfort Avenue at the time of the incident to come forward.
