Brilliant news.

A young Irish man found unconscious under a Sydney bridge in Australia has woken from a coma on his 21st birthday, according to 9news.com.au.

Shaun Dunworth, from Donegal, was found under the High Street overpass in Sydney on 29 July.

It was suspected he either fell from the bridge or was a pedestrian and was struck while attempting to cross the road.

He was rushed to nearby St Vincent’s Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery before being placed in an induced coma.

His parents, Stevan and Karen, made the 11,700km journey from Ramelton to get to Australia and have kept vigil at Shaun’s bedside ever since.

It’s understood that Shaun woke from his coma on his 21st birthday and has since been taken off life support and moved out of intensive care.

Shaun travelled with friends to Australia earlier this year and is understood to be working in construction there.

He had previously worked and lived in Glasgow.

A GoFundMe page set up to help his family out has raised over €50,000 and you can find it here.
