Two men arrested following €50,000 cannabis seizure in Limerick

The searches took place on Friday morning.

Two men have been arrested following an intelligence-led operation in the Limerick area on Friday morning, 5 April.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime groups.

A combined unit of the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service and the Limerick Drugs Unit searched two houses in the Limerick area, discovering two packages.

The packages contained approximately 2.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €50,00o, subject to analysis.

Two men, aged 47 and 58, respectively, were arrested at the scene by Gardaí.

The pair are currently being detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
