Further toxicology results are being awaited after post-mortem examinations were carried out on Saturday.

Gardaí investigating the discovery of the bodies of three children in “unexplained circumstances” on Friday night have noted that they are awaiting further toxicology results following post-mortem examinations carried out on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, Gardaí named the three children whose bodies were found in a house in Newcastle, Dublin as brothers and sister Conor, aged nine, Darragh, aged seven, and Carla, aged three.

Gardaí were called to the house after 7pm on Friday where they first found a woman aged in her 40s on the street in a disorientated state.

They subsequently entered the residence and found the bodies of the young children.

The post-mortems on the three children were completed by Assistant State Pathologist Margot Bolster at the Dublin City Morgue on Saturday evening.

Interim results are not being published due to operational reasons with further toxicology results awaited.

The house at Parson’s Court in Newcastle where the children were found remains sealed off as the Garda Technical Bureau conduct examinations.

A woman continues to receive medical treatment at Tallaght University Hospital.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and Gardaí continue to investigate “all the circumstances” regarding the unexplained deaths.
