Those folks at Mercer have ranked us above London in quality of living, but the best place of all is Vienna.
As a service to its clients, Mercer Consultants review the world's biggest cities annually so that they can advise their clients on what places they and their employees should do business. A multitude of factors, from crime rate to tax is factored in to rank the cities in order of best places to live.
Dublin continues to do pretty well on this global scale, coming in 34th in the 2014 list published today, down from the mid 20s a few years back. London comes in at 38, but Europe does very well on the list overall, with Vienna top again, followed by Zurich (2), Munich (4), Düsseldorf (6), and Frankfurt (7). Auckland is third while Vancouver is fifth.
Worst place of all, according to Mercer, is Baghdad, bottom of the 223 cities in the survey, while the likes of Tokyo (43), Dubai (73) and Miami (65) are all well behind dear old Dublin.
