Sad news

Eminem’s mum, Debbie Nelson, has died aged 69.

The famous rapper’s mother died following a battle with advanced lung cancer, TMZ reported today (3 December).

Sources said she died last night in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Her diagnosis was only revealed in September with reports at the time suggesting she had not been given long to live.

It has been well documented that Eminem, full name Marshall Mathers, had a rocky relationship with his mother.

He did not mince his words early in his rise to fame, publicly accusing her of being neglectful and abusive.

This sentiment was reflected in songs such as “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”.

In 1999 Debbie sued him for defamation which only increased tensions between the two as she released a memoir in 2007 titles “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.”

However, through the years the rapper and his mother have attempted to make up with the 2013 track “Headlights” resembling a turning point.

Eminem has since apologised for many of his harsh words and expressed regret for much of what was said.

Back in 2022, upon Eminem’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Debbie congratulated her son on the achievement, suggesting a further improvement in relations.

The rapper is yet to release a statement.
