Some shaky hands dialling that number, you’d think.

Congratulations and absolutely no sour grapes whatsoever go out to the winner of Tuesday night’s EuroMillions jackpot of a mouthwatering €175,475,380.

Yep, there’s definitely no sense of ‘what if?’ or begrudgery of any kind in the JOE office right now, no sir.

Fair play to them.

Wednesday morning brings the exciting news that the as-yet-unnamed lucky sod has made contact with the National Lottery.

We now go live to the winner’s precise situation:

A Lotto spokesperson said that the ticket holder will now be guided through the prize claims process.

“We can confirm we have heard from the holder of the winning ticket but are not in a position to give any more details at the moment,” said the spokesperson.

“We hope to be in a position to give details on where the winning ticket was sold later today.”

The record-breaking victory shatters the €115 million won by Limerick woman Dolores McNamara in July of 2005.

It marks the 14th Irish EuroMillions win since the game was launched in the county back in 2004.

“We are delighted the winner has made contact,” beamed National Lottery CEO, Dermot Griffin.

“This is an incredible win for an Irish EuroMillions player! And a record win for the National Lotttery – we are thrilled.

Not as thrilled as the winner, though. Again, fair play to them.

Any chance of a lend of €10,000? Asking for a friend…
