Facebook and affiliated applications such as WhatsApp and Instagram have been down due to an outage.
The outage is currently impacting multiple countries including Ireland, the UK and the US, however, the cause of the outage is currently unknown.
The apps stopped being accessible for users at roughly 5pm, with a Facebook spokesperson confirming that the company are "working to get things back to normal".
Andy Stone said on Twitter on Monday that they are "aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products."
"We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience," he added.

The Instagram website and application are both currently displaying a "Server Error" message, meanwhile, Facebook is displaying a "Sorry, something went wrong" message to users who attempt to access the site.
