Woman in her 20s dies in fatal road traffic collision in Kerry

A jeep and a car collided at approximately 8am on Wednesday morning.

A woman in her 20s has died following a fatal road traffic collision that took place on the N21 at Meenleitrim, Castleisland in Kerry.

Gardaí have attended the scene of the incident, which occurred at approximately 8am on Wednesday morning, 2 October.

The woman, pronounced dead at the scene, was the sole occupant of the car.

The driver of the jeep was taken to University Hospital Kerry to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The scene at the crash site has been preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local coroner has been notified.

Diversions have been put in place, with the road closed off at time of writing at midday on Wednesday.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward, particularly motorists who were travelling in the area and may have dash cam footage.
