Man (20s) killed in fatal road crash in Meath

The collision occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A man has died following a single vehicle fatal collision in Meath.

At approximately 1.40am on Sunday morning (8 September), Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a crash involving a car on the R163 at Headfort, Kells.

The driver, a man aged in his late 20s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead a short time later.

It is understood that the car left the road and struck a wall.

The man’s body has since been removed to the mortuary at Navan Hospital.

The scene at the crash site has been preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local coroner has been notified.

As of Sunday morning, the road is closed off to traffic and diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses. Anyone with relevant information is asked to make contact with Kells Garda Station on 046 9280 820.
