A man in his 60s died as a result of the incident on Tuesday night.

Gardaí in Castlebar investigating the fatal shooting of a man at Aghamore, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo on Tuesday (17 September) have released without charge a man in his 80s arrested in connection with the incident. A man in his 60s, named locally as Brendan Kilduff, was fatally injured as a result of the shooting. It is being treated by An Garda Síochána as a tragic incident. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. A post-mortem has been completed, but the results will not be released for operational reasons. Investigations are ongoing.
