Firearm and ammunition seized from men involved in “unlawful organisation”

Investigations are ongoing.

A firearm and related quantity of ammunition were seized by Gardaí as part of ongoing investigations by the Security and Intelligence section of An Garda Síochána alongside members from the Special Detective Unit.

A premises on the Old Naas Road, Bluebell, Dublin 12 was searched on the morning of Tuesday 11 September which led to Gardaí to confiscate both items.

Two men – one in their mid 50s and one in their late 50s – were arrested at the scene.

According to Gardaí, one of the arrested men is also being questioned in relation to membership of an unlawful organisation.

Both are currently being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 – Offences Against the State Act 1939.
