These are the first pictures of the flat in which the Grenfell Tower fire is believed to have started.

The fact-finding stage of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has begun and reports from five experts are being examined.

Pictures were released today as the official inquiry moves on to what caused the fire.

In one report University of Dundee Professor Niamh Daeid said that the fire started “in or around the tall fridge freezer.”

However it does not go as far as to explicitly state that it was the exact cause.

Photographs show the extent of the damage in flat 16.

Behailu Kebede, who lived in the flat, mentioned the fridge in his first 999 call: “Fire in flat 16, Grenfell Tower… the fridge, flat 16, Grenfell Tower.”

A “culture of non-compliance” at the tower was also criticised on Monday.
