Five people arrested in relation to serious assault in Tipperary

The assault left a man in hospital with “serious injuries”.

Gardaí have arrested five males in relation to the serious assault of a man in his 20s in Tipperary.

The man was assaulted between the hours of 11pm on Sunday, 27 June and 12:30am on Monday, 28 June at Upperchurch Village in Thurles.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital where Gardaí said he was treated for serious injuries.

Gardaí previously appealed to witnesses and any road users who may have camera footage that were travelling in the Upperchurch Village area between the hours of 11pm and 12:30am to come forward.

Out of the five males arrested on Friday, four are aged in their 20s and one is in his teens.

They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a number of Tipperary Garda Stations.
