A man has been charged with attempted murder in relation to the Parnell Square attack.

The five-year-old girl who was stabbed in an attack outside a school in Dublin city centre last month has been moved from intensive care to a ward, according to reports.

She was one of four victims of the attack that occurred shortly after 1.30pm outside Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire in Parnell Square East on 23 November.

The other three were a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, as well as Leanne Flynn Keogh – a woman in her 30s who was a carer for the children.

The incident sparked a chain reaction of events leading to the widely condemned night of rioting in the city centre.

The five-year-old girl was the most seriously injured of the victims and had spent the past month in intensive care at Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Multiple outlets are now reporting, however, that the child left ICU last week and has been placed in a general ward where her treatment will continue.

A GoFundMe page for the five-year-old has so far raised over €50,000 from an initial target of €500.

On 9 December, the girl’s family shared an update on her condition via the GoFundMe page, which read:

“Our little girl is a warrior. She is still fighting. She remains in the PICU with hopes of moving to the ward before the end of the year.

“We can all feel the love and prayers every second of the day. Had it not been for all of our friends, family and everyone’s support, we wouldn’t have had the strength to stand, and for that we thank you all.”

Earlier this week, 50-year-old man Riad Bouchaker appeared at Dublin District Court, charged with the attempted murder of the three children and the assault of Ms Keogh at Parnell Square last month.
